Vintage Lens Test

Vintage Lens: Hasselblad CF 120mm Makro-Planar F/4

Welcome,

The Hasseblad 120Cf was design for the Hasselblad V system cameras, which is a medium format system that requires a bigger image circle than the GFX system. It consists of 6 elements in 4 groups which are arranged almost symmetrically to the iris diaphragm.

Because the lens was design to produce a bigger image circle when use on a Fujifilm GFX it doesn’t vignette and the corners are better than many vintage lenses that where design for a 35mm camera.

The lens is heavy at 700gr it was produce by Carl Zeiss for Hasselblad, is made of metal and glass and as most Zeiss lenses the construction is second to none. In the used market is between 800 - 1200 Australian dollars and is easily available on places like Ebay.

I sold my copy of this lens because the size, price and image quality, to carry this lens around I prefer to have a Fujifilm GFX 100-200, the image quality of the GFX lens is as good or better than the Hasselblad and is a zoom lens that give me all the range to 200mm. I tend to keep Vintage lenses that are smaller and give me a unique image. If I want an image that is perfect I prefer to use the GFX lenses.

The images bellow where taken using a Fotodiox Pro Adapter, on a tripod with a 2sec delay and the IS of the Fujifilm 100s was off.
