Vintage Lens: Industar 50-2 50mm f3.5

Welcome,

This is another great soviet era lens produce from 1959 to the early 90’s. My copy is M42 mount from 1978 the first versions of this lens where M39 mount. The Industar 50-2 is a 50mm f3.5 lens, derived from the famous Zeiss Tessar 4-element lens design. It was nicknamed the "Eagle's eye" because it can be very sharp. The lens is soft and doesn’t have much contrast wide open but it becomes more contrasty and shaper as you stop down the lens.

It is very small, it looks at bit ridiculous mount it on a GFX body but if you after a lens to go for a hike or to go somewhere were weight is a limitation this lens might be a great choice. The lens is very cheap around $60aus. During the soviet years they made heaps of copies this lens. A quick search on Ebay will give you plenty of results it’s vastly available. The lens feels well made only glass and metal.

Here are some images taken with the Industar 50-2 taken on a Fujifilm GFX 100s using a tripod, 2sec delay and the IS of the camera is off at ISO 100.

The lens is prone to flares but in this case I really like it.
