Vintage Lens: Hasselblad CF 180mm Sonnar F/4

Welcome,

The Carl Zeiss 180mm Sonnar f/4 was design for the Hasselblad cameras of the 500 series. The lens have 5 elements in 4 groups. The trademark Sonnar is derived from the German word “sonne,” which means “sun.” Is an adaptation of the Tessar design done by Dr. Ludwing Bertele in 1929 the Sonnar’s characteristics brings out the best from the Planar and the Tessar designs.

This lens is big and Heavy at 1075 gr is well made all metal and glass. The construccion is as good as you can expect from a Carl Zeiss Lens. The lens is very sharp and it doesn’t vignette on a Fujifilm GFX camera. In the used market is between 800 - 1200 Australian dollars and is easily available on places like Ebay.

I sold my copy of this lens because the size, price and image quality, to carry this lens around I prefer to have a Fujifilm GFX 100-200, the image quality of the GFX lens is as good or better than the Hasselblad and is a zoom lens that give me all the range to 200mm. I tend to keep Vintage lenses that are smaller and give me a unique image. If I want an image that is perfect I prefer to use the GFX lenses.

The images bellow where taken using a Fotodiox Pro Adapter, on a tripod with a 2sec delay and the IS of the Fujifilm 100s was off.
